Help Make a Million Meals for Haiti
Send to KindleDo you live in or near Los Angeles? Do you know 11 people – perhaps from your office, Rotary Club, Bible study, etc. – you can invite to pack meals that will feed earthquake survivors in Haiti?
What: If you can answer yes to both of those questions, please mark your calendar for Friday, March 12 or Saturday, March 13, and start recruiting your team!
From March 12th to March 13th, 120 teams of 12 Salvation Army volunteers will pack and ship 1 million meals in 24 hours to help curb hunger in Haiti on the two-month anniversary of the devastating earthquake.
When: Teams are being recruited for the following shifts:
Friday, March 12
8:00AM to 12:00PM
12:00PM to 4:00PM
4:00PM to 8:00PM
Saturday, March 13
8:00AM to 12:00PM
12:00PM to 4:00PM
4:00PM to 8:00PM
Where: The event will be held at The Salvation Army’s warehouse at 5600 Rickenbacker Road, Building 1C and 1D, Bell, California. Click here for a map to the Bell warehouse.
How you can help: Recruit a team of 12 people (age 12 and older, please), and click here for a link to the website where you can register to serve. Once you’re on the volunteer sign-up page, be sure to indicate in the lower right hand box that you’re interested in the Million Meals for Haiti project and let us know the the names of the folks you’ve recruited to your team. And, let us know which shift you’d like to sign up for. If you want to speak to someone about signing up, please call 213-607-7314.
And, if you aren’t able to recruit a team of 12, don’t panic; we’ll fit you in to another team or give you a job anyway! We really need your help.
Background: The Salvation Army distributes 1 million meals per week in Haiti and will continue to through the end of March. In order to meet the demand, meal packing events are being organized around the United States in partnership with Numana (pronounced: new manna). The meal packages are made of vitamin-fortified rice and soy and can feed up to six people.
Thank you for your interest in helping The Salvation Army continue to serve earthquake survivors in Haiti. Click here for the sign up form.
